Hands-on Kokedama Making Workshop
A Hands-On Workshop Experience Are you fascinated by the idea of combining nature and art in a unique and beautiful way? Join us for an immersive kokedama workshop, where you’ll learn the enchanting Japanese art form that transforms ordinary plants into extraordinary living sculptures.

What is Kokedama?
Kokedama, which translates to "moss ball" in Japanese, is a centuries-old horticultural practice that involves encasing a plant’s root system in a ball of soil, which is then wrapped in moss and secured with string. This living art piece can be displayed in a variety of creative ways, from hanging it in mid-air to placing it elegantly on a decorative tray. Kokedama combines the simplicity of bonsai with the rustic charm of moss, creating a natural and beautiful addition to any space. Origins and History Kokedama finds its roots in the ancient Japanese practice of bonsai and Nearai, an older art form that emphasizes the aesthetic of displaying the plant's roots. Emerging during the Edo period (1603-1868), kokedama was a way for the common people to enjoy the beauty of nature in their homes, gardens, and small spaces. The art form has since evolved, blending traditional techniques with modern aesthetics to become a popular gardening method worldwide. Today, kokedama is celebrated for its simplicity, elegance, and the tranquility it brings to any environment.
