Social Sector 101
The social sector in India is at a tipping point in its evolution. The past few years have seen growing momentum across the sector with the emergence of disruptive social innovation models and greater involvement of CSR players. Now more than ever, young people are interested in careers with purpose and a growing number of professionals are looking to move into more meaningful jobs. Despite this excitement, the social sector in India remains a blackhole to most — whether you are a student looking to work in social impact, a professional wanting to move into the sector, a budding philanthropist or the head of CSR at a company - there are very few channels through which people can make sense of how to navigate this space, whether as a volunteer, a philanthropist or a prospective employee. If you've been thinking about India's social sector, but weren't sure where to start, this is for you. We will be talking about: - What does the social sector in India really look like? (It's not just about nonprofits) - How can you engage with the sector even if you are not currently a part of it? - If you want to volunteer money or time, where should you begin? - If you are working in the private sector and contemplating a move to the social sector, what would be helpful for you to understand? - What does career progression look like in the sector? - - Things to know if you're fresh out of college and thinking about working in the social sector. Have questions? Send them in to (writetous@idronline.org). We will try and answer them at the event.
